Painter

Armstrong, IA | Full Time

This person is responsible for cleaning, prepping paint surface, and painting multiple Manufacturing products using industrial powder and liquid paint application systems.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Select paint according to company requirements, and match colors of paint following specified work orders
  • Mix paints to manufacturer's specifications, then stir and thin the paints using mixers
  • Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from surfaces in preparation for paint application, using abrasives, solvents, chemicals, washing tanks, or pressure washers
  • Pour paint into spray guns and adjust nozzles and paint mixes for proper paint flow and coating thickness
  • Monitor painting operations to identify flaws, such as blisters or streaks, and correct their causes; sand, clean, and touch-up paint as required
  • Dispose of hazardous waste in an appropriate manner through proper marking and storage techniques
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment, using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths for cleaning duties
  • Spray prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primers and/or finish coatings
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to pass respirator testing requirements
  • Ability to paint in different positions; bending, kneeling, crouching, etc.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to work with arms above head
  • Must be able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of 6 months manufacturing/production painting experience required; prefer 1+ years
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills are desirable
  • Capable of performing duties without direct supervision
  • Ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly motivated, and a team player with excellent work ethic
