Logistics Assistant $17.75/hr. plus Depending on Experience
Monday-Friday 7:00am-5:00am M-F
A well established scrap yard in Spencer, IA is looking for a Logistics Coordinator. The Logistics Coordinator will assist in coordinating the flow of goods and ensuring timely delivery of products to the customers as well as the timely pickup of inbound products.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with third party carriers and transportation brokers. Track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any issues or delays that may arise.
- Dispatch and schedule company drivers to coordinate delivery and pickup with customers
- Maintain accurate records of logistics activities including invoices, bills of lading, shipping documents, and delivery confirmations
- Acts as the back-up person for the Transportation/Logistics Manager
- Answer phones, direct calls, and handle customer communications
- Develop new relationships with trucking carriers and brokers
- Select appropriate carriers and negotiate freight rates
Requirements:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong customer service skills
- Proven experience in logistics or supply chain is preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations or ability to learn
- A two-year college business degree and/or two years of transportation/logistics experience preferred
