Job Description

General Car Mechanic - $18/hr and up depending on experience 

 Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

If you are passionate about classic cars and looking for an opportunity to fix and restore them then this may be the job for you!

We are seeking an experienced Classic Car General Mechanic for a Classic Car Museum in Milford, IA. You will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and restoring classic cars to their original beauty and functionality. 

Responsibilities:

· Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems in classic cars and perform necessary repairs and maintenance

· Conduct routine inspections and tune-ups to ensure that classic cars are running smoothly and efficiently

· Repair or replace parts such as brakes, engines, transmissions, and steering systems

· Restore classic cars to their original condition, including bodywork, painting, and upholstery

· Install and upgrade modern safety features and technology in classic cars

· Communicate effectively with customers about repair and maintenance needs and provide recommendations for future work

· Keep up to date with the latest trends and techniques in classic car repair and maintenance

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience working with classic cars preferred
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment
  • In-depth knowledge of classic car mechanics, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, fuel systems, suspension/frame swaps, electrical systems, HVAC systems
  • General knowledge of mechanical troubleshooting, replacement, repair/restoration and modification of new OEM and used components
  • Comfort with custom modifications, brake system upgrades, complete rewiring, engine/transmission rebuild, engine performance upgrade, EFI swaps, AC add-ons, and more
  • General automotive knowledge on vehicles ranging from early 1900’s thru 1990’s
  • Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently and accurately
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
  • Passion for classic cars and their restoration with a commitment to preserving automotive history
