Chopper/Roller
M-Th 6am-4:30pm OT
$18-20/hr
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiberglass Chopper/Roller to assist in the manufacturing and lamination of fiberglass-reinforced products. The role involves operating a chopper gun to apply resin and fiberglass material, followed by hand rolling to ensure even distribution, air removal, and proper curing. Ideal candidates will have experience in composite or fiberglass work and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a fiberglass chopper gun to spray chopped fiberglass and resin mixture onto molds.
- Use rollers and brushes to evenly distribute resin, eliminate air bubbles, and ensure proper laminate bonding.
- Prepare molds and surfaces, including applying release agents and ensuring cleanliness.
- Follow job specifications, work orders, and layup schedules for thickness and layering requirements.
- Monitor resin mix ratios, material usage, and curing times.
- Inspect finished surfaces for defects and ensure high-quality standards.
- Maintain and clean chopper gun equipment and tools regularly.
- Adhere to safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of chemicals.
- Work as part of a team to meet production goals and deadlines.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in fiberglass lamination or composite manufacturing (1+ years preferred).
- Familiarity with fiberglass materials, resins, catalysts, and chopper guns.
- Ability to work with hand tools and power tools in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions and diagrams.
- Must be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in ventilated but resin-odor environments.
- Understanding of workplace safety practices, especially when working with chemicals and resins.
Compensation and Benefits:
- $18-20/hour
