Our client in the Spencer, IA area that has been established well over 120 years, is on the lookout for a dynamic Controller to join our clients innovative crew. As a crucial member, you'll be at the helm of managing and overseeing all financial and accounting aspects across multiple companies and business units. While do so you, you will also lead the accounting department, providing comprehensive financial insights to aid management, owners, and stakeholders in making informed decisions about the company's future.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate and timely distribution of financial management reports, encompassing internal and external monthly financial statements, and annual reviews for various entities.
• Drive the monthly and year-end closing processes of the general ledger.
• Supervise Accounts Payable operations to guarantee precise and punctual payments, encompassing accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, and cash control.
• Oversee Accounts Receivable activities to manage aging components effectively, and contribute to the collection process as needed.
• Demonstrate a strong grasp of sales tax and use tax laws, and manage the preparation of state sales tax returns.
• Facilitate payroll processing and ensure total corporate payroll tax compliance, along with the preparation of all quarterly and year-end payroll reports.
• Develop robust cash flow projections to ensure financial stability.
• Perform month-end bank reconciliations promptly and accurately.
• Collaborate with external CPAs to ensure corporate income tax compliance and the timely completion of all corporate financial statements.
• Establish and uphold systems and controls to validate the integrity of all systems, processes, and data.
• Contribute to special projects and compile various reports as required.
• Maintain professional communication with colleagues, management, customers, and stakeholders.
• Adhere to all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
• Conduct audits and support risk management initiatives.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
• CPA or CMA certification, while not mandatory, is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel.
• A minimum of five years of hands-on managerial accounting experience.
• Knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
