Purchasing Manager
$100k/yr + DOE
Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 5:00pm
Are you a purchasing professional ready to take the next step in your career? Our client is looking for a Purchasing Manager to oversee all procurement activities, develop and maintain supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, ensure cost-effective purchasing, and the time delivery of quality materials and components. The Purchasing Manager supervises a small team of buyers and works closely with production, engineering, and quality departments to support operational needs and customer demands.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a team of buyers, setting clear goals and ensuring accountability.
- Assign purchasing activities, monitor workloads, and provide training/development.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
- Source and purchase raw materials, components, and services needed for hydraulic cylinder production.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure cost savings and favorable agreements.
- Develop, evaluate, and maintain vendor relationships to ensure reliability, quality, and timely delivery.
- Monitor market trends and supplier performance, making recommendations for changes as needed.
- Collaborate with production and engineering to forecast material needs and avoid shortages or excess inventory.
- Ensure purchased materials meet specifications, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
- Resolve supplier issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing in a timely manner.
- Work with accounting on purchase orders, invoicing accuracy, and cost tracking.
- Implement purchasing best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Track KPIs related to supplier performance, cost savings, and inventory levels.
- Provide regular reporting to management on purchasing activities, cost reduction efforts, and supply chain risks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience, preferably in a manufacturing or machining environment.
- 2+ years of leadership/supervisory experience managing buyers or purchasing staff.
