Job Title: Packing Operator

Location: Mountain Lake, MN

Job Type: Full time/Temp to Hire

Pay: $20/Hour 

Shift: 6am-6pm 2 days on, 2 days off and every other weekend Sat-Mon

Job Summary: A local state of the art manufacturing company is looking for Packaging Operators.  You could be the next employee of this cutting edge facility that focuses on nutrition and quality products. The Packaging Operator has the responsibility for packaging products according to the product specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

· Learn and understand the basic function and operation of all packaging equipment

· Perform each and all packaging line operations · Rotate into various line positions when required

· Ensure that packaging specifications, requirements and standards for are met

· Report quality and production issues to the supervisor

· Communicate with the operator you are relieving to gain knowledge of the present state of the equipment and production run.

· Review previous shift paperwork/labels and follow the set production schedules closely.

· Assure that we have taken all necessary samples of finished and ingredient products.

· Assist with the metal detector checks at the start of every shift as needed.

· Stage all necessities (totes, bags, pallets, skid sheets, placards, pen, marker, whirl-paks, spoons) that are needed for your shift.

· Assist in assuring that all pallets of product, after each run, are taken out of the tote room and are placarded accurately as needed.

· Make sure packaging room necessities (bags, brooms, whirl-paks, paperwork, vacuum cleaner and utensils) are stored neatly in their assigned places. (Nothing on floor).

· Maintain daily sanitation schedule.

· Monitor various aspects of the bagging system to assure it is running smoothly and not backing up. Periodically check for bagging or product quality issues and communicate any findings with supervisor immediately.

· Ensure all bags are stacked neatly and inside of the pallet at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Experience: Previous machine operator experience or equivalent skills. Strong mechanical aptitude. Licensed forklift operator or willingness to learn. Knowledge of computer software applications.

Working Conditions:

  • Light Heavy Work - Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 30 pounds..

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.

  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Other Duties: 

  • Take personal responsibility to engage in plant and food safety practices to prevent hazards that cause foodborne illness or injury and provide a clean, safe work environment and quality products with applicable regulatory laws and SQF code. 
  • Qualified and trained individual will provide as a back-up in the event of an absence of another employee.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Effectively document all process parameters and bring any deviations, including food safety problems, to supervisor’s attention
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as needed. 6. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
