Payroll Specialist | $45 - $53k DOE
Mon - Fri, 8A - 5P
Large, local, diverse client with multiple locations needs a Payroll Specialist to be responsible for the preparation, disbursement, and accurate processing of their payroll in a multi-state environment using labor/time and attendance and payroll processing systems. They will also support the Payroll Supervisor in processing payroll.
Responsibilities of Payroll Specialist will include:
- Carry out the payroll processing cycle through completion by ensuring timesheet compliance, approvals, import/export of data and reconciliation between systems.
- Ensure payrolls are processed and committed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Review personnel time sheets utilizing an electronic timesheet software for compliance with company policy, government contract (as applicable) and state/federal regulatory requirements.
- Manages workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
- Works closely with Human Resources, Benefits Administrators and Finance on payroll related issues and interconnected processes.
- Prepares various payroll and management reports, reviews labor distribution postings, reconciles/ reviews quarterly payroll tax reports for any variances and processes adjustments as needed.
- Reviews and maintain accurate payroll records and employee files including various payroll tracking logs.
- Complete, verify, and process forms and documentation for administration of garnishments, authorized payroll deductions, unemployment claims, and employment verifications etc.
- Responds to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters.
Payroll Specialist Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business desired, Accounting or equivalent work experience
- FPC or CPP certification a plus
- 4-5 years of experience in payroll processing for large number of employees and tax filings
- Looking for construction payroll experience i.e. per diem, gov't contracting
- Working knowledge of payroll best practices
- Extensive experience processing and reviewing multi-state payroll.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Advanced computer skills and proficient with MS Office
- Experience with Dayforce HCM & Costpoint data management systems preferred
- Experience with Union Contract Bargaining Agreements (CBA) preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to develop, prioritize, organize and accomplish work
- Strong work ethic and team player
- Ability to analyze information and evaluate options to choose the best solution and solve problems
