Quality Manager
$90k/yr + DOE
Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 5:00pm
We are partnering with a leading hydraulic manufacturing company in Iowa to identify an experienced Quality Manager to join their leadership team. This is a high-impact role overseeing all aspects of quality systems, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives, and serve as the ISO9001 representative.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and directs the Quality Assurance Department and personnel.
- Develops quality assurance plans or process control procedures that will ensure production of finished products, which meet quality specifications and standards.
- Directs and coordinates the overall quality specification, standards, inspection and testing procedures for raw materials, for processes and for finished goods.
- Conducts and/or reviews all complaints received from customers to determine where quality assurance emphasis should be placed at the plant to eliminate problems.
- Analyzes, evaluates, and presents information concerning factors such as business situations, production capabilities, manufacturing problems, economic trends, and design and development of new products for consideration by other members of management team.
- Suggests and debates alternative methods and procedures in solving problems and meeting changing market opportunities.
- Cooperates with other top management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals.
- Develops initial and subsequent modifications of product assurance program to delineate areas of responsibility, personnel requirements, and operational procedures within program.
- Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
- Confers with engineers about quality assurance of new products designed and manufactured products on market to rectify problems.
- Provides technical assistance to the purchasing department in connection with the purchase of raw materials, supplies and equipment.
- Contacts and/or visits customers and suppliers when necessary to confer on specific quality problems. Oversee subcontractor’s quality assurance program. Assist vendors in establishing inspection standard to meet the company’s quality requirements.
- Directs the continuing review of the quality assurance program and the formulation of new or revised procedures to effect improvements, reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
- Responsible for coordination gauging procedures between the company and customers.
- Reviews technical publications, articles, and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in industry.
- Performs all work in a safety conscious manner. Be aware of dangers and take all appropriate counter measures to protect yourself and others around you.
- Responsible to maintain a clean and safe work area consistent with the Company’s housekeeping policies.
- Supports the company’s Quality Management System.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management or related technical field, preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of direct experience in inspection and quality assurance.
- 5+ years in a quality supervisory capacity
- Must have led the implementation of, or at a minimum, worked in an ISO certified organization where system maintenance and adherence were part of the individuals’ job function.
- Green Belt / Black Belt certification strongly desired.
- Must have broad and in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques, quality assurance, technology and exposure to data processing.
- Strong mechanical comprehension
- Professional communication skills both orally and in writing and interact successfully with all levels of the organization, vendors and customers.
- Solid problem-solving skills and working knowledge of quality problem solving tools.
- Ability to reach and comprehend instruction, blueprints, correspondence and memos in English. Ability to write English correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one, in small groups and to management and company associates.
- Requires advanced accounting skills which require analytical math, statistical math, math related to blue print reading and geometrical tolerance calculations.
