Safety Manager
Monday-Friday, 7AM-5PM (hours will fluctuate depending on production/team needs)
$75 - $125k depending on experience
A local, expanding meat production facility is hiring a Safety Manager to join their team! This position will be responsible for the overall leadership, support, strategy and development of the EHS functions at the facility. This is a great opportunity to work with an established facility. Responsibilities will include:
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.
- Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
- Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations to include equipment inspection and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and incident prevention.
- Investigate incidents/accidents to discover causes and handle workers’ compensation claims to completion.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures to mitigate risks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in safety engineering, industrial safety or engineering field with safety experience preferred.
- Proficient use of the computer, including Safety Software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- An undergraduate degree and/or 10 years of management experience may be substituted.
- CPE, CSP or CIH certifications a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of management and safety.
- Demonstrated ability to make independent judgments and provide knowledgeable evaluations and opinions to all levels within the organization.
- Considerable knowledge of state and federal laws and court decisions relevant to proper management and safety.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze difficult and complex issues and to make recommendations for proper actions.
- Ability to conduct research and to prepare analyses and reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, representatives from other organizations and the general public.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; and vision for company growth opportunities.
