Skills Development Trainer

Competitive Wages - Depending on Experience

1st Shift - Monday-Friday, with the occasional Saturday *Ability to flex across shifts to meet training needs

Are you passionate about teaching and developing others? We're looking for an experienced Skills Development Trainer to lead hands-on training for new and existing employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment for our client company located in the Algona, IA area. You'll play a key role in building team capability through structured training programs, cross-training, and safety & compliance education. Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement the Operations Training Qualification Program. Training and validating trainees with respect to their performance against established training objectives.
  • Conduct new hire orientations, classroom training & certifications, cross training & annual re-qualifications
  • Develop training programs and participate on teams developing training plans
  • Develop training materials, standard work instructions, checklists and visual job aids
  • Maintain accurate training records and support audits
  • Collaborate on continuous improvement, safety initiatives, and compliance training
  • Perform all training in full compliance with company, state and federal safety and environmental regulations
  • Assist with development, implementation, and updating of required written safety and health programs and plans, i.e. - Hazard Communication, PPE, LOTO, etc. 
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and follow GMPs
  • During non-training or non-production periods - skills development trainer may be called upon to perform in other capacities 
  • Attend occasional training seminars that may be out of town or require overnight arrangements

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and applicable technical knowledge required; Mechanical or trade school is a plus; Bachelor's preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and coaching skills
  • Solid understanding of adult learning principles and safety regulations
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve while working with employees with diverse backgrounds
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing setting and adapt to shift changes
  • Must be able to fluently read, write and speak English; Bilingual proficiency (Spanish) is a plus
