Trust Operations & Tax Manager

Excellent opportunity for candidate with Fiduciary, trust, legal, tax and investment background to lead and manage our client's Trust Operation & Tax Department.  They will also act as the in-house expert for trust taxation and accounting issues, as well as assuring compliance with all policies and procedures and industry, audit and OCC requirements. 

Responsibilities of this Trust Operations & Tax Manager will include: 

  • Provide direction and developmental guidance for Trust Operations Department ensuring appropriate staffing and facilitating necessary cross training for backups
  • Stay current on compliance developments, regulatory trends and changes in laws that affect all trust activities
  • Review and revise as needed coding issues within accounts for accurate computation of fiduciary income by tax vendor and act as a liaison between tax vendor and staff
  • Conduct ongoing tax research on behalf of company and its trust clients, advising staff on tax and accounting matters
  • Oversee daily processing and reconciling of all trade settlement activity, income posting and fees
  • Recommend procedure and policy changes needed to avoid risk to the bank and improve the customer experience
  • Provide support for all technology requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • At least 3 - 5 years of experience in preparation of fiduciary and individual tax returns
  • MUST BE an IRS Registered Tax Return Preparer or have ability to register
  • Knowledge of fiduciary, legal, tax and investment concepts
  • Advanced, creative problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to objectively review, challenge and suggest multiple alternatives
  • Strong reconciliation skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Team-oriented and able to work collaboratively across all levels
  • Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail required
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines and show flexibility to change direction as needed
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer systems and programs with proficiency in Word and Excel
